SCREW PILES RED DEER

The Red Deer Screw Pile Pros provide screw piles and screw pile installation in and around Red Deer County. Screw pile foundations are a type of deep-ground foundation anchoring in which steel piers with helixed shafts are inserted into the ground like screws. Depending on the structural requirements of the application, several tubular steel sizes and helix diameters are employed. Screw piles may support tiny residential foundations like sunrooms and backyard decks, or they can sustain substantial structural loads like grade beams and garages. The foundation designs are made to particularly withstand and sustain the loads of each distinct structural application, and certified helical piles are engineered in accordance with CCMC compliance.

What are Helical Screw Piles

Screw piles are a type of foundation that is used in construction. They are made from a steel pipe that has a helix plate welded to the bottom. The screw pile is installed into the ground by screwing it in using a torque motor or a hydraulic drive head. This creates a strong and stable foundation for a structure. They are often used in situations where it is not possible or practical to use traditional foundation methods, such as when building on sandy or unstable soils.

What is a Screw Pile Cap?

Screw pile caps are the top part of a screw pile foundation. They are typically made of steel and are used to distribute the weight of a structure evenly across the screw pile foundation. The caps also provide a connection for the structure to be built on top of. Screw pile caps are an important component of a screw pile foundation, as they help to ensure that the structure is stable and secure.

How are Helical Piles Installed

Helical piles are installed by using a specialized piece of equipment called a torque motor or helical pile driver. This machine applies torque to the helical pile, which causes it to be driven into the ground. The torque and the rate at which the helical pile is installed can be adjusted depending on the specific soil conditions at the installation site.

Typically, a helical pile is installed by first attaching a helical plate (fabrication), which has one or more helical blades, to the bottom of the pile. The helical plate is what gives the pile its screw-like ability to penetrate the ground. The torque motor is then used to drive the pile into the ground, with the helical plate cutting through the soil and providing support for the pile as it is being installed.

The depth at which the helical pile is installed will depend on the specific application and the load-bearing capacity of the soil at the installation site. In some cases, helical piles may be installed to depths of several feet, while in others they may be installed to depths of only a few inches.
